Frequently Asked Questions

Q

I have some some jewelry and would like to know it’s value. What is the process?

A
Before I can fully answer your questions I need to know why you need the appraisal. Is it for insurance scheduling? Division of estate? Estate taxes? Resale?

This will determine the value conclusion and scope of work I need to perform.

For example; If you need an appraisal for insurance scheduling. First step is to evaluate and photograph the jewelry. You can be with me during this part of the process. After the evaluation, take your jewelry and allow me some time for research and to complete a 'written' report. The report is emailed to you as a secured PDF file which can be forwarded to your insurance company.

The total amount of time required for the evaluation and appraisal report depends on the number of jewelry items and how simple or complex they are. ie; are they mountings with multiple diamonds gemstones? Are there varying shapes and sizes. Is it a piece with provenance or an antique that requires extra time research?

Q
How much will it cost?

A
Pricing will vary according to the type of appraisal, complexity and number of pieces. Please refer to the Fee Schedule for more details.
